George Gershwin gehörte schon immer zu meinen Lieblingskomponisten – seine Biografie und die Rhapsody bilden eine Lebenseinheit. Der kochende Schmelztigel New York in den Zwanzigern des letzten Jahrhundert – seine Tätigkeit in der Tin Pan Alley und vieles mehr, all dies faszinierte mich schon immer. 2013 hatte ich dann Zeit und Muse mich ausführlich mit dem Stück zu beschäftigen und eine Solo Gitarrenversion herauszubringen (SCHELLMUSIC). Doch mehr reizte mich noch eine jazzige Version – und die konnte ich dann im Laufe des Jahres mit dem Projekt THE RIB – The Rhaposdy in blue – verwirklichen. Nur mit Edelpreamps aufgenommen und bei Jan Erik Kongshaug in Oslo, im berühmten Rainbowstudio gemischt und gemastert vom Tonstudio Bauer entstand eine CD mit Gershwinarrangements und der Soloversion und der dreiteiligen Jazzversion. Das Ganze auch live zu spielen macht sehr viel Spaß.

George Gershwin has always been one of my favourite composers – his biography and Rhapsody form a life unit. The boiling melting pot of New York in the twenties of the last century – his activity in Tin Pan Alley and much more, all this has always fascinated me. In 2013 I had the time and muse to deal with the piece in detail and to release a solo guitar version (SCHELLMUSIC). But I was more interested in a jazzy version – and I was able to realise this in the course of the year with the project THE RIB – The Rhaposdy in blue. Recorded only with noble preamps and mixed by Jan Erik Kongshaug in Oslo, in the famous Rainbowstudio and mastered by Tonstudio Bauer, the result was a CD with Gershwin arrangements and the solo version and the three-part jazz version. Playing the whole thing live is a lot of fun.
